JoJo Siwa Says Miley Cyrus’s Joke to “Bring Her Back Out” of the Closet Is “Not What the World Needs to Hear”

JoJo Siwa is opening up about Miley Cyrus’s recent joke about bringing her “back out” of the closet amid her new romance with her Celebrity Big Brother UK housemate, Chris Hughes.

In case you missed it, Miley, who has long identified as pansexual, left a video message for fans at World Pride DC on June 7, wishing them a happy Pride from inside her closet.

“Oh, my God, I haven’t been in here since sixth grade,” she playfully started, before adding, “Enjoy coming out of the closet if this Pride is the time for you. It shouldn’t be a month — it should be a year, it should be infinite.”

Then came her punchline, which was seemingly aimed at JoJo and Chris’s relationship. “I’m going back inside to get more pretzels and find JoJo Siwa and bring her back out,” Miley said before bidding farewell.

A few days later, JoJo reacted to the moment with a heartfelt post on Instagram, which featured baby pictures of her at a Hannah Montana-themed birthday party.

“I was happy at my 5th birthday having a Miley themed party, and I’m still happy now at 22… If you know me, you know that miley is my day 1, grew up beyond inspired by her from 2 years old on… I wasn’t sure how I felt about things for a couple of days… but I’ve started to come to some thoughts….” she wrote in her lengthy caption.

The “Bulletproof” singer added, “I don’t believe what Miley said at world pride was ill intended, honestly I think it was meant to be a joke, but just not very good one haha. Not what the world, or myself needs to hear anyday of the week. I messaged miley light heartedly about it and she replied and said ‘All love. Always . ❤️❤️❤️’.”

JoJo, who recently opened up about her gender fluidity and sexual identity during her time on Celebrity Big Brother UK, also shared a sweet message about her journey and revealed that she still had love for the “flowers” hitmaker.

“Honestly the most beautiful thing I’ve learned in the last 5 years is that love is a gorgeous rainbow. Don’t question yourself, don’t second guess yourself, just love. Love love love love love.❤️,” she continued. “People judge no matter what, and it can be very hard, especially when it comes from someone you love, and look up to… but if you feel happy and content with yourself, that’s most important. You get one life… hold onto it, make it yours, find your happy, and love.”

Glad to see that things are still good between the former child stars, because that bond is truly something beautiful.
